Dozens of firefighters are battling a massive 6-alarm blaze in a New Jersey apartment building.
The fire at the Gregory Plaza in Passaic broke out shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, shooting out flames and large plumes of thick, black smoke that could be seen from miles away.
The approximately 200 residents were safely evacuated, with only a few minor injuries reported.
They were taken to a local school where they were being cared for by the Red Cross.
Raysa Bravo, 25, who lived in the building her entire life, told NJ.com she was babysitting at her sister’s home nearby when she got a call about the fire. Bravo said she lost everything in the blaze, including pets.
“My heart dropped seeing my building,” she said.
