New York City has picked IBM to run a project designed to streamline the government’s technology infrastructure.

The CITIServ project is expected to modernize and consolidate infrastructure technology across agencies. It’s expected to save the city up to $100 million over five years.

IBM said Monday it has been awarded the first phase of the project, which is dealing with 14 city agencies. Ultimately, 50 agencies will be involved.
