US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in New York last week arrested six alleged illegal immigrants suspected of committing human rights violations, officials said Thursday.

Between Aug. 27 and Aug. 29 agents with ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations nabbed people from Albania, China, Guatemala and Sudan in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Ossining, authorities said.

“The six arrested during this operation used the backdrop of New York City to shadow their illicit pasts in their home countries,” said Thomas R. Decker, field office director for ERO New York.

The names of those arrested were not released and it’s unclear where they were being held.

The perps included a person who had participated in forced abortions or sterilizations in China and one who was an active participant in China’s coercive family planning policy, ICE said.
