Shia LaBeouf left a voicemail for the man who was slugged on the Lower East Side for looking just like him.
“It was a pretty long voicemail,” Mario Licato told Cosmopolitan.
“He was like, ‘Hey, this is Shia LaBeouf . . . I just read an article that you were punched in the face because you look like me. I don’t know. I wish I was in New York. I’d come bring you soup.’ ”
LaBeouf also left his number and asked Licato to “please” call him back. Licato said he would do so soon.
Licato, 26, who was attacked on his way to a Ludlow Street bar last weekend, realized that LaBeouf had called him when he found a message on his Instagram account beneath an image he himself
had posted of The Post’s story about him.
“Left you a message on your work phone,” LaBeouf wrote on the post. “Feel better G.”
