Flames and choking smoke erupted from a second-story window of a wood-frame Queens house yesterday morning, sending a man and a woman fleeing into the street, authorities said.

The fire at 51-56 47th St. in Maspeth, a tidy neighborhood alongside two busy freeways, was reported at 9:54 a.m. The FDNY said it had it under control within 40 minutes.

The residents were taken to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Seven firefighters also suffered minor injuries, officials said.

The fire was contained to the top floor, but the damage extended throughout the two-story semidetached structure, officials said, adding that an investigation was ongoing.
