Authorities say a businessman will spend six months in jail for evading over $2 million in sales taxes at his Long Island car dealership.

The sentencing of Boris Michaelov was announced Monday by Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown and state tax commissioner Thomas Mattox.

The defendant also agreed to make full restitution. He pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted grand larceny.

Authorities say Michaelov is a naturalized Israeli citizen. He was extradited from Canada, where he had lived since at least 2007. Before that, he lived in Forest Hills, Queens.

After his sentence is served, he’ll be transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation.

The used car dealership in Elmont, N.Y., operated under two names — Bill Johnson Auto Sales and then Lefferts Auto Sales.
