Unseasonably warm temperatures hit the Big Apple Sunday after an early-morning downpour — and could break a record last set when Ulysses S. Grant was in the White House.
Temperatures could tie or break the record high of 60 degrees set in 1876 — far surpassing the normal average of 38 degrees, forecasters said.
But the warmer weather won’t stick around though, with temperatures dropping to near-freezing by early Monday morning.
“This week will be the most sustained cold we’ve had this winter,” said Dan Pydynowski, a senior meteorologist at Accuweather.
There’s a chance for some flurries or snow showers Tuesday afternoon despite it being the warmest day of the week at 41 degrees.
And Wednesday and Thursday will both struggle to reach 32 degrees.
“It’s certainly going to feel like mid-January,” Pydynowski said.
