Straphangers waited, waited, and then waited some more in New York’s numbered subways in March, as on-time train arrivals plummeted.

More than a quarter of trains on the 2, 3, 4 and 5 lines ran late, according to MTA figures released yesterday — and every numbered line in the system showed on-time declines from March 2010.
