A state correction officer on his way to work at Sing Sing prison early yesterday fatally struck a pedestrian in Brooklyn, police said.

Damon Padmore, 38, was behind the wheel of his 1999 Ford Expedition headed north on Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Heights at 5:20 a.m. when he slammed into Dorothea Wallace.

Wallace, 38, was pronounced dead at Methodist Hospital.

Padmore, a correction officer since 1997, was scheduled to work a shift at the prison 50 miles away in Ossining at 7 a.m., according to a state correction spokesman.

Cops said said Padmore was not drunk, but was arrested on a misdemeanor rap for driving with a suspended license.
