Jamaican authorities today rolled up high-ranking members of a drug ring accused of moving tons of marijuana through New York — but still couldn’t find its kingpin, Christopher “Dudus” Coke.
Justin “Stingy” O’Gilvie, identified as a business partner of Coke, turned himself in to Jamaican cops, reports said. Cops also busted George Phang, an alleged member of Coke’s crew.
But Coke, 41, was at large. Jamaican police believe he’s hiding out someplace on the island. Through his lawyers, Coke had been negotiating to surrender to US authorities.
Residents of his Tivoli Gardens neighborhood — some of whom equate Coke with God, and who vowed to fight to the death to prevent his arrest — complained bitterly yesterday that police raids this week killed more than the 73 reported by authorities.
Jamaican police displayed photographs of bombs discovered in the neighborhood.
Coke’s brother Omar “Lion” Coke, a Mount Vernon resident, is awaiting sentencing on charges of selling more than a ton of marijuana, some of which he stored in a Bronx stash houses.
In a wiretapped conversation, Omar Coke, 33, said he could “probably get rid of it fast for five flat” — meaning, he could sell the pot quickly to his customers for $500 a pound.
Omar Coke is free on bail, and wears an electronic security bracelet. He works nights as a security guard.
