A longtime church janitor yesterday was convicted of murdering a New Jersey priest brewing a cup of coffee in his clerical robes.

José Feliciano, 66, of Easton, Pa., did not deny stabbing the Rev. Edward Hinds 44 times in the rectory of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Chatham in October 2009.

His lawyer claimed Hinds, 61, had demanded sex in exchange for not turning Feliciano in on a child-sex-abuse warrant from the 1980s.
