A 39-year-old man was struck and killed by a charter bus while jaywalking on the Upper East Side Wednesday, a police source said.
The man was wearing headphones while crossing Second Avenue mid-block between 98th Street and 99th Street when the bus traveling south plowed into him around 5 p.m., according to a witness and cops.
“I was under the bus talking to the guy trying to see if he was alive… but he wasn’t responding,” a man who identified himself as Hector told The Post.
“The driver dragged him about 15 seconds before I got the driver’s attention. I screamed to him: ‘You got a body under the bus!'”
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
The 68-year-old bus driver remained with the vehicle, cops said.
The NYPD is investigating, but there were no immediate charges.
