Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush convinced some New York power brokers Wednesday that he’s going to become a candidate for president in 2016.

“I believe that Jeb Bush will run and that he will be a very strong candidate,” said former GOP Sen. Al D’Amato, who heard Bush speak at a Union League fund-raising breakfast for Catholic schools.

Bush got a standing ovation when he said he was seriously considering weighing a run on the Republican line and would make a decision in December, after the mid-term elections.

Bush also supported Cardinal Dolan’s push for education tax credits for parochial schools, sources said.

If he runs and wins, Jeb Bush would be the third member of his family to land in the White House. His father, George H. W. Bush, served as the 41st president and and older brother, George W. Bush, was the 43rd.
