A 34-year-old Staten Island painter was killed on the job after he fell from a Queens overpass and was struck by a car on the Van Wyck Expressway Tuesday, police said.
The deadly incident occurred on the Van Wyck Expressway Tuesday morning. CitizenJeremy Rozan was painting support beams on the Roosevelt Avenue Bridge when he somehow fell off a construction structure and onto the roadway below, the NYPD said.
He hit the side of a 2012 Nissan Altima that was traveling northbound on the Van Wyck Expressway around 10:20 a.m., authorities said. His body was tossed forward into the left lane after making contact with the car, police said.
First responders found Rozan unresponsive with severe trauma to his head and body, police said. He was later pronounced dead at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Queens.
The 34-year-old man died at the hospital following his fall. CitizenThe driver of the Nissan, a 46-year-old man, remained at the scene following the deadly incident, officials said. He and two passengers in the car were taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The incident was being probed by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
