This was hardly a penny from heaven.
A Bronx man was struck by a coin-sized chunk of airplane metal after a Chicago-bound airliner experienced engine trouble over Hunts Point, authorities said yesterday.
The metal bits rained down shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday when an American Airlines MD-80’s left engine failed on takeoff from La Guardia Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The jet made an emergency landing at Newark Airport with no passenger injuries, the airline said.
