A JetBlue flight headed from JFK to Bermuda made an emergency landing in Boston after it was possibly struck by lightning on Monday.

The crew of the Airbus A320 saw the lightning strike at 9:44 am, about an hour after the plane took off from New York City, according to Federal Aviation Administration officials.

The strike may or may not have been related to a “non-critical equipment issue” that forced the landing, said JetBlue officials.

“JetBlue flight 1731 safely landed at Boston Logan at 9:44 following a diversion of the New York to Bermuda flight to address a non-critical equipment issue,” said airline officials.

“Maintenance crews are addressing the issue and an unrelated lightning strike that occurred while en-route to Boston. Customers are being accommodated on another flight on to Bermuda.”
