The Port Authority’s top boss at Kennedy Airport was forced out of his $179,600-a-year job this week over a slow probe of a faulty landing light that had become detached from a runway and damaged a plane, sources said.

Gennaro “Jerry” Spampanato, 75, JFK’s ex-general manager, ­allegedly upset superiors who thought he did not investigate the incident quickly enough, according to the sources.

Spampanato had also been criticized for not hiring enough electricians during his tenure, the sources said.

The ousted boss is being temporarily replaced by Huntley Lawrence, the PA’s deputy director of aviation.
