Two planes struck birds near Kennedy Airport yesterday, officials said.
A bird smashed the nose of an Orlando-bound plane, Delta Flight 149, shorlty after takeoff, forcing the jet to do a U-turn and land.
“The captain said the bird hit the nose and we have to change the plane for safety reasons,” said a passenger, Dennis Constim.
The plane’s radar was damaged.
“It’s better to make the change than to take the risk,” Constim, 30, said.
The other plane was a JetBlue flight about to land.
No one on either plane was injured.
