JFK strike averted
JFK Airport security workers yesterday nixed plans to strike during Christmas.
Employees of AirServ and Global Elite Group decided against walking off their jobs after their bosses agreed to talks.
The workers, backed by Local 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union, had threatened to start a strike tomorrow.
No date has been set for talks between the workers and the two contractors, said Local 32BJ spokesman Michael Allen.
The workers “thought long and hard” before deciding against a walkout, Allen said.
