JFK ‘terror’ bust
An Albanian living in Brooklyn was busted by the feds for funding and trying to join a jihadist group, authorities said yesterday.
Agron Hasbajrami, a legal US resident, was charged with providing material support to terrorists after he sent $1,000 to the group and sought to travel to its base of operations along Pakistan’s frontier with Afghanistan.
Hasbajrami was arrested at Kennedy Airport on Sept. 6 as he tried to board a flight to Istanbul, Turkey, packing a tent and cold-weather gear, officials said.
A joint FBI-NYPD task force later found in Hasbajrami’s home a note that read: “Do not wait for invasion, the time is martyrdom time,” officials said.
Hasbajrami pleaded not guilty yesterday in Brooklyn federal court.
