Jobless tempest
ALBANY — Superstorm Sandy threw nearly 50,000 New Yorkers out of work, Gov. Cuomo revealed yesterday.
The number of unemployment claims jumped by almost 50,000 downstate during the first week after the storm, from a base of about 140,000 to 150,000 already jobless.
