Former President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, broke cover to hobnob with celebs in the Big Apple for the opening night of “Othello” on Broadway — just days after Democrats ripped his apparent push to re-enter the party spotlight.

The 82-year-old former president was among the VIPs in attendance Sunday as two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, took to the stage in the timeless Shakespeare tragedy.

Dressed in a black tuxedo, the 46th prez gave a quick wave as he hopped out of his motorcade and was ushered into the Barrymore Theatre in Midtown Manhattan ahead of the star-studded performance.

His wife, who wore a shimmering teal blue dress, was spotted tailing closely behind in what was their first major outing since leaving the White House.

The former first lady later posted a snap of the pair on Instagram with the caption “date night.”

“Riveting… brilliant … BRAVO!” she wrote alongside a photo of them posing inside the theater in the wake of the curtain dropping.

The pair posed, too, for an on-stage snap with the entire cast and were pictured shaking hands with the two leading men.

The production, which is slated to run until June, made headlines well before the Bidens’ appearance on opening night after The Post’s critic, Johnny Oleksinski, had his ticket rescinded after penning an article blasting the insanely high ticket prices.

His review had also described the performance as “one slooow-thello.”

Meanwhile, the Bidens’ Broadway sighting came just days after former aides and other Democrats ripped the Bidens over reports they had offered to help boost his ailing party’s image and fundraising.

Since leaving DC, the pair are said to have sat down with newly elected Democratic National Committee chairman Ken Martin to pitch themselves for a revamped campaigning effort.

“Joe Biden should enjoy retirement at the beach in Rehoboth,” one Biden alum told The Post last week.

“No voter wants to hear from him. He is delusional and arrogant to think that he can be a value add to the Democratic Party. We need to move on from the era of Joe Biden and embrace new, younger leadership.”

“The Bidens are still living in an alternative universe that revolves only around them,” another onetime senior White House adviser said of Biden’s offer to put himself back in the spotlight.
