Former Vice President Joe Biden is the projected winner over President Donald Trump in New Jersey, according to the Associated Press, claiming the state’s 14 electoral votes in his bid for the White House.
The Associated Press projected that the Garden State would end up Biden’s column as the polls closed at 8 p.m.
A recent poll by Rutgers University showed Biden with a 24 percentage point lead.
Biden’s lead could grow further as provisional ballots cast on Election Day are counted.
Both men have been a staple in the lives of New Jersey voters for decades — even though neither actively contested the state this cycle.
Trump was a fixture in the New York City media market and once the king of the Atlantic City casino scene. He still owns a golf course in Bedminster, where he regularly visits and often held fundraisers and other events.
