President Biden led a standing ovation Thursday for the rookie NYPD cop who took down the career criminal in the deadly ambush of Officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora.

“Detectives Wilbert Mora and Jason Rivera are the who and what law enforcement ought to be,” Biden said Thursday afternoon during his visit to One Police Plaza. “Their futures were cut short by a man with a stolen Glock and a 40-round magazine and I want to thank the man back to my left, I think he’s sitting right there, for taking him on.”

“Stand up,” the president added, as he turned around and nodded to Officer Sumit Sulan, 27.

Biden made the comments while attending a joint press conference with Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul as part of the president’s trip to address the growing gun violence in the Big Apple.

Sulan — dubbed a “super rookie” by police sources — fatally shot career criminal Lashawn McNeil, 47, during a domestic violence call in Harlem on Jan. 21.

Rivera, 22, and Mora, 27 — who were both promoted posthumously to the rank of detective first-grade at their funerals over the last week — were fatally shot in the encounter.

Biden praised the young officers, saying their lives that were taken by a “weapon of war” were a loss for New York City — and the nation.

“I don’t see any rationale why such a weapon [is] able to be purchased,” Biden said. “It doesn’t violate anybody’s Second Amendment rights to deny that.”
