Former Queens Rep. Joe Crowley has backed down on plans to charge as much as $250 to attend his St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday after The Post reported about it.
In a revised invitation, Crowley is telling party-goers they can now “pay what you wish” or go for free — but he’s cut down the bash from 2½ to 1½ hours.
“There was some confusion on our St. Patrick’s Day celebration this Saturday night at the Globe in Sunnyside,” Crowley said in a new email to supporters. “We’re not doing it as a fundraiser, just trying to cover costs. In that spirit, please come and pay what you wish … or just come as my guest. It would be great to see you, sing a tune or two together, and raise a glass with old friends.”
The updated invitation for the event says it will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
The original invitation said the party would go from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and tickets would cost a minimum of $40, with the proceeds going to Crowley’s campaign account, “Joe for New York.”
Crowley was defeated in a stunning Democratic primary upset by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez last June.
Afterward, he set up a new state campaign committee, which now has $140,000.
Crowley quit as Queens Democratic leader last month after accepting a gig at a major DC lobbying firm, Squire Patton Boggs.
