Conservative podcaster Joe Rogan called out California Gov. Gavin Newsom for mocking influencer Nick Shirley after the YouTuber claimed to have uncovered massive fraud in the Golden State.

“Hey, he’s doing your job! He’s uncovering fraud, and what you’re doing is mocking him!” Rogan said on the latest episode of his podcast, released Friday.

“They should just open up the investigations into all these places immediately if you cared.”

His remarks came after Newsom posted an AI-generated image of Shirley standing outside a day care door, wearing cameras all over his body and head, creepily asking a teacher, “Hey, can I see your kids?”

Newsom’s press office shared the photo on X after Shirley posted a 40-minute video alleging $170 million in suspected fraud within California’s hospice and day care systems.

“Did you see what the governor posted? What Newsom’s press office posted? They posted a photo of Nick Shirley … like a meme [of] Nick Shirley peeking into windows,” Rogan said to his guest, comedian Mark Normand.

In December 2025, a similar video of Shirley’s alleging fraud at Somali-run child care centers in Minnesota went viral.

Following investigations into alleged child-care fraud in Minnesota, Shirley expanded his work to California, focusing on “ghost” day care centers and fraudulent hospice businesses that allegedly use Medicare numbers from healthy seniors.

Rogan doubled down and asked why no investigation was being conducted.

“But all they want to do is just obfuscate, cover it up,” he said.

“Make it look silly. Make it look like … [he’s] a white supremacist, Nazi, whatever, MAGA.”

This is Shirley’s most recent spat after calling the California governor an “enemy to the people” during a FOX News interview last week, arguing that the governor has attacked him rather than addressing the alleged misconduct.
