Judge backs Vedder vocals
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder may have sung “gibberish” when he covered an obscure Canadian musician’s only hit, but the changed words probably don’t amount to copyright infringement, a judge said yesterday.
Manhattan federal Judge Richard Sullivan said prior cases “appear to allow a lot more change than occurred” to “Hard Sun” by Gordon Peterson, who’s suing Vedder for altering the lyrics.
