A judge Friday permanently barred a tenant — who was accused by his landlord of hosting wild sex parties — from selling liquor at his rental East Village townhouse.
In September, landlord Wonwoo Chang sued Avraham Adler — a former ultra-Orthodox Jew — for allegedly holding the wild soirees where he charged a $60 entry fee, $8 for sangria and $15 for marijuana cookies at the townhouse worth $4 million.
“The court finds that the plaintiffs have established that the defendant engaged in the unlicensed sale of liquor at the subject premises 189 East 7th St,” Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Paul Goetz said. “Accordingly, defendant Avraham Adler is permanently enjoined from carrying on such activity.”
Adler — who had no lawyer in court and was a no-show at the hearing — was arrested for violating his probation earlier this month after officials tracked him down following The Post’s coverage of the case.
Chang’s lawyer, Stephen Katz, told the judge that Adler was reported to have been “taken to Pennsylvania where he is being incarcerated and I think he may still be there.”
Goetz — who already previously postponed a prior hearing so Adler could get a lawyer — said, Adler, “was aware of today’s court date and he failed to appear.”
After issuing the permanent injunction, the judge — who previously issued a similar temporary restraining order against Adler — told Katz he would have to file an amended lawsuit if Chang wants to have a shot at getting money damages from Adler. Katz said he plans to.
Outside court Katz told The Post, “We think that these parties may have damaged the property and that’s what we are looking into now. Adler is obviously a colorful character and if he had kept his head down, he wouldn’t be in jail in Pennsylvania.”
The 33-year-old man allegedly leads a double life and lives in New Jersey with his pregnant wife and three kids. His wife has since said she plans to divorce him.
Adler could not immediately be reached for comment. It was not immediately known who his civil or criminal lawyers were.
