A Brooklyn judge yesterday skewered the legal team of accused child butcher Levi Aron, questioning whether his lawyers have the experience to try a complex criminal case and deal with the persistent press coverage.

Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Neil Firetog called Pierre Bazile and Jennifer McCann on the carpet after several embarrassing pretrial publicity episodes.

Firetog said he was not questioning the competency or talent of the lawyers or their defense strategy. “What I am questioning is whether counsel has enough experience for a trial of this type of case,” he said.

Aron is charged with the kidnapping and murder of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky of Borough Park.

Firetog lambasted Bazile and McCann for not preventing Aron from granting an interview at Rikers Island. “You’re claiming your client’s incompetent, and you’re relying on him to make decisions?” Firetog said.
