Prosecutors trying to prove manslaughter charges against three contractors in the deaths of two firefighters in the hazard-plagued Deutsche Bank Building will have to do so without some of the more gory evidence photos, a judge ruled yesterday.
The autopsy pictures showing the lifeless, soot-covered faces of firefighters Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino are not necessary, said Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Rena Uviller.
Jurors will rely instead on a portrait of each victim and photos of the firefighters’ damaged lungs.
Beddia and Graffagnino perished in the August 2007 blaze when a broken standpipe sent water into the basement instead of the floors where the firefighters were trying to battle the inferno.
