A judge refused to release Martin Shkreli’s $5 million bond Thursday, even though he remains locked up since being declared a public menace last month.
Brooklyn federal Judge Kiyo Matsumoto declined to exonerate the “pharma felon’s” millions, saying it wasn’t clear if Shkreli would be paying restitution when he’s sentenced in January on multiple charges of securities fraud and conspiracy to commit securities fraud.
Shkreli’s lawyer Ben Brafman asked her to release the money so his client — No. 14 on New York state’s list of top delinquent taxpayers — can start paying taxes.
Shkreli, 34, was jailed after he offered his Facebook followers $5,000 per strand of Hillary Clinton’s hair.
