A juror who caused a mistrial in a Queens rape case when he texted a pal about deliberations was slapped with a $1,000 fine yesterday.
“I apologize to the court, the other jurors, the defendant and the families involved,” said Daniel Matz, of Woodside. “I’ve wasted everyone’s time and efforts and I wish it never happened.”
Matz was hauled into court on criminal contempt charges for texting pal Michael Nunley during the trial of José Fernandez. Nunley happens to be an assistant district attorney in The Bronx, and he informed Judge Richard Buchter.
