A federal judge said yesterday he wants to hear from US Attorney General Eric Holder before deciding whether to try to reapply the death penalty for a man convicted of murdering two NYPD officers.
The killer’s death sentence was overturned on a technicality.
“We won’t go forward with this case unless I receive a letter from Mr. Holder that he intends to seek the death penalty,” said Judge Nicholas Garaufis.
Ronell Wilson remains convicted of fatally shooting Detectives Rodney Andrews and James Nemorin during a 2003 undercover Staten Island gun buy-and-bust operation.
