Jury selection is expected to begin Monday for embattled attorney Michael Avenatti, accused of trying to shake down sportswear giant Nike for more than $20 million.

The scandal-scarred lawyer is facing charges including conspiracy to commit extortion for his March 2019 conversation with Nike lawyers in which he threatened to take corruption allegations against the company public — unless they paid him millions to conduct his own investigation.

The 48-year-old claims he was simply representing a client when the alleged blackmail took place.

Yet prosecutors say he was actually drowning in debt, and saw the conversation with Nike as a shortcut to paying off the nearly $15 million he owed.

Avenatti is awaiting two other federal trials for embezzling from clients — including porn star Stormy Daniels, whom he repped in her lawsuit against President Trump.

Avenatti remained out on bail pending trial until earlier this month, when a judge revoked his bail for violating the terms of his supervised release by allegedly laundering money.

He’s now cooling his heels in Manhattan’s notorious Metropolitan Correctional Center — formerly home to Jeffrey Epstein and Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman — where he remains in solitary confinement.

Avenatti faces up to 20 years behind bars if convicted.
