More than 100 Englewood, NJ, teaching assistants and school secretaries called in sick yesterday — a day after the school board said they may be replaced by a private firm to save $2 million a year.
School Superintendent Donald Carlisle dismissed the protest as “Wellness Day” and said school activities went on as usual.
The board is facing a $4 million budget shortfall.
