It’s the biggest jam he’s ever gotten out of.
Rage-aholic Mets closer Francisco “K-Rod” Rodriguez was spared jail time yesterday with a guilty plea to attempted assault for an explosive attack on his girlfriend’s father in August.
As part of the plea deal with Queens prosecutors, Rodriguez also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct — for badgering baby mama Daian Peña with dozens of text messages after a judge ordered him not to contact her.
“There is no tolerance for domestic violence, and he acknowledges that he has an anger-management problem,” said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
The deal unveiled in Queens criminal court requires the Mets star to attend a 52-session anger-management course for striking Carlos Peña at Citi Field after an Aug. 11 game.
At the Long Island Gold Coast mansion where
K-Rod used to live with his girlfriend and their twin children, a subdued Daian said “yes” when asked if she thought justice had been served.
Carlos Pena will press his civil lawsuit over the assault, according to lawyer Jeff Korek, who added that it’s Pena’s “hope that K-Rod will further own up to his responsibilities to Ms. Pena and their children.”
