Gov. Kathy Hochul has agreed to two primary debate dates as her handling of rising crime and other issues comes under fire from Democratic rivals Rep. Tom Suozzi from Long Island and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.

“I’m eager to participate in these debates to highlight our strong track record of getting things done for New Yorkers … As we move into the final month of the primary campaign, I look forward to keeping up our pace and momentum and defeating Republicans in November,” Hochul said in a release Wednesday.

The three Democrats will face off on June 7 in a televised debate sponsored by WCBS-TV Channel 2 and Newsradio 880.

Round two goes down on June 16 when the candidates will spar at a debate sponsored by NBC New York, Telemundo 47 and the Albany Times Union.

Hochul agreed last month to participate in at least two debates with Suozzi and Williams.

Her primary rivals have been eager in recent weeks to exploit political setbacks such as the recent resignation of ex-Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin as well as an ongoing surge in crime.

Suozzi has recently claimed momentum in the race and Williams nearly defeated Hochul four years ago when they faced off in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor.

Yet Hochul has maintained a big lead in polling all year, which will work against both of her rivals in the weeks remaining before the June 28 primary.

“It’ll matter if she makes a mistake,” political consultant Hank Sheinkopf told The Post about the likely importance of the scheduled debates in the ongoing campaign.

“It’s nearly impossible to defeat an incumbent governor. In order to lose, she’d have to make a mistake that would give Suozzi or Williams an opportunity to get ahead,” he added.
