Police Commissioner Ray Kelly yesterday honored 29 NYPD cops who died of 9/11-related illnesses by unveiling a special display of their shields that will be shown in the US Senate and around the country.
“The officers we remember . . . were part of the department’s greatest rescue efforts, but they are also among the casualties,” Kelly said at the New York City Police Museum.
“Their names already have been added to memorials in New York City — now their names will travel the country.”
