A New Jersey man stole more than $33,000 that was donated to his son after a deadly fire and used some of the money to pay for escorts, police said.
Tubal Eduardo of Somerset County and his 4-year-old son, Noah, survived a fire that killed his 31-year-old girlfriend and two of her children in Manville in 2007.
The kindergarten that Tubal Jr., one of the dead children, attended collected more than $38,350 on Noah’s behalf.
During his trial on Thursday, a detective said Eduardo spent $7,100 on an escort service.
Eduardo’s attorney said he used the money to pay living expenses.
