Kids want fare deal
City students yesterday warned Albany lawmakers: Don’t mess with our free fares!
Some 150 students swarmed MTA Headquarters in Midtown to protest the planned elimination of the $215 million program that gives them free MetroCards to travel to and from school. “A lot of students are already not motivated to go to school,” said Sharmin Hossain, 17, a senior at Bayside HS. “This will make it worse.”
About 500,000 students use the free cards.
