The kids caught in a Brooklyn house fire Monday morning were classmates with the seven youngsters who perished in a similar borough blaze in 2015, according to a report.
The inferno that ripped through the Azan family’s Sheepshead Bay home killed three kids and injured at least three others — some of whom attended Yeshivat Ateret Torah with the Sassoon kids, who died when their Midwood home caught fire more than two years ago, Yeshiva World reports.
“I know the family. It’s something you can’t understand. There of the kids are studying with my kids,” father Yossi Azan wrote on Facebook at the time of the Midwood fire.
Fire marshals believe an oil-fed menorah may have sparked Monday’s fire — the Sassoon’s house went up in flames when a hot plate left on for the Sabbath malfunctioned.
Yeshivat Ateret Torah is a co-educational school with kids from pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade that is close to both of the homes.
