A killer Latin King gangbanger on the lam from Staten Island authorities for more than two years was caught leading a double life in Spokane, Wash., officials said yesterday.
Carlos Perez, 33, had served three years in a federal pen after pleading guilty in 2002 to helping murder a man in 1995.
After being freed on that rap, he was nailed on an unrelated felony weapons-possession charge in 2008 — but then skipped bail and left behind his wife and kids on Staten Island, they said.
Dogged detectives from the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office finally tracked down Perez in Spokane last week, after his Social Security number popped up in address records there.
A bench warrant was issued for his arrest, and detectives from the warrant squad nabbed him Friday.
He had been working at a Jiffy Lube and trying to divorce his wife to marry another woman, sources said.
“It’s basically kudos to the warrant squad for being so persistent in tracking this guy down,” said Peter Spencer, a spokesman for Richmond County DA Daniel Donovan.
