SAN JUAN, PR — Renegade Bronx Democratic Sen. Jeff Klein said at a conference Thursday he wants to continue an alliance with Republicans, who on Election Day won an outright majority to run the Senate.

Before the election, Klein led a five-member dissident group, the Independent Democratic Conference, that was part of the GOP majority governing coalition that ran the Senate for two years. Klein was co-leader along with Senate GOP leader Dean Skelos.

Earlier this year, Klein indicated he would rejoin the regular Democratic conference, particularly if Dems won the majority. That didn’t happen.

Some Democrats viewed Klein’s actions as a double-cross. “Klein and the IDC are the big losers. They can’t be trusted,” said Sen. Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx).
