Knife man was warned: cops
Cops ordered a knife-wielding man to freeze before shooting him dead, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said yesterday.
“They shout out, ‘Police! Don’t move! Police! Don’t move!’ The individual lunges at the officers, and they fire a total of eight shots,” Kelly said, describing Wednesday’s death of Zachary Bingert, 21, in his Glendale, Queens, home.
Bingert’s mom had called 911 and said her son, who had a history of substance abuse, was threatening suicide, Kelly said.
Police had been summoned to the home three times before for domestic incidents.
