A law enforcement group withdrew its endorsement of a Republican candidate for a state Senate in Westchester Wednesday after seeing tweets from a campaign fund-raiser slamming student survivors of the Florida school shooting massacre.

But hours later, the New York State Fraternal Order of Police re-endorsed Julie Killian after realizing she had condemned the remarks from campaign contributor Denise Ward and returned the donations.

It was all a goof, the police group said.

The friendly fire — endorsement, withdrawal and re-endorsement, all happened within a few hours.

“The New York State Fraternal Order of Police is formally withdrawing our endorsement of State Senate 37th District candidate Julie Killian. This decision has been was made after Killan’s fund-raising host took to twitter attacking Marjorty Stoneman Douglas High School students Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg,” the law enforcement group said.

“The New York State Fraternal Order of Police will never support a candidate or campaign that condones the attack on child survivors of a school shooting,” the group said.

In one tweet, Killian donor Denise Ward, who hosted a fundraiser and raised $950 for the candidate, wrote, “Every time that idiotic Hogg person speaks I am compelled to do the opposite of whatever he’s advocating, because it’s so clear that’s he’s nothing more than a tool & a drone.”

But Killian immediately condemned the remarks and returned the contributions raised by Ward.

By Wednesday evening, the Fraternal Order of Police re-endorsed Killian.

“The previous statement made by the New York State Fraternal Order of Police regarding Julie Killian was made in error. Our organization had misinformation and we now understand that since the Parkland tragedy, Julie Killian has praised the bravery of the students who continue to speak out about the issue,” the group said.

“As soon as Julie found out that a campaign contributor made inappropriate remarks about the Parkland students, she immediately condemned those remarks, made clear they were reprehensible, and returned every dollar. Julie is a strong supporter of law enforcement and first responders and therefore, we are restoring our strong endorsement of her.”

Last night, the Killian campaign said it was “proud” of the endorsement.

Fratneral Order of Police president Michael Essig declined further comment.
