Lawyers for fallen former state Sen. John Sampson have filed papers to appeal the disgraced pol’s corruption conviction.

Sampson, 51, was sentenced to just five years behind bars on Jan. 18, following a series of protracted legal proceedings that wound through the justice system for nearly three years.

He had faced up to 20 years in prison following his July 2015 conviction on charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice and lying to federal agents.

Sampson skimmed money off foreclosure deals while serving as a court-appointed monitor, in addition to taking a $188,500 loan from sketchy local businessman Edul Ahmad to help cover up the scam, prosecutors said.

The disgraced Dem is scheduled to surrender on April 21, and must also pay a $75,000 fine.

At Sampson’s sentencing, defense attorney Nathaniel Akerman asked his client remain out on bail, pending appeal, but that application was denied.

Akerman declined to comment Tuesday.
