Steve Levy’s team just put out his schedule for his announcement press conference tomorrow in Albany – in which he states flatly that state GOP chairman Ed Cox is supporting him and will be with him at a Manhattan version of his announcement.

That’s generally further than Cox has been willing to go publicly, and it comes as many are questioning whether tomorrow’s event will be a “welcome” event by the party or a full-scale endorsement.

“Levy is being supported by New York State’s Republican Chairman Ed Cox, a large majority of Republican Vice Chairs as well as many Republican County Chairmen and state and local GOP leaders,” the release says. “Levy will run on the Republican ticket and plans to enroll in the Republican Party.”

Cox is widely known to have been wooing Levy, but has been far more reluctant to say so publicly. Party officials have generally stressed that they have a process.
