Run, Anthony, run!

There’s one guy in town who can’t wait for disgraced Rep. Anthony Weiner to enter the Democratic race for mayor — Republican contender Joe Lhota.

Sensing that Democratic contest would be thrown into turmoil by Weiner’s late entry, Lhota called on the Twitter-enthusiastic former congressman to jump right in.

“Anthony’s been a friend for a long time.” said Lhota, during a press conference outside City Hall on lowering taxes.

“I’m looking forward to engaging him in a vibrant debate. I think he raises the level of the debate all way round and I urge him to enter the race.”

Asked whether Weiner’s past sexting behavior should be taken into account by voters, Lhota responded:

“I believe in forgiveness. I always have.”
