A Long Island attorney has been busted for taking advantage of couples hoping to adopt children — scamming the prospective parents out of tens of thousands of dollars to help them find babies that didn’t exist, officials said.

Kevin Cohen, 41, of Roslyn, who ran a nonprofit called Adoption Annex, allegedly tricked the hopeful couples into thinking they were about to get a child of their own by creating an elaborate backstory for the nonexistent tykes.

He went so far as to create forged medical records and information for the fake birth mother, Nassau County DA Kathleen Rice said.

He allegedly began pulling the con in 2007 and officials believe that several couples were victims of the scam.

Cohen faces 15 years in prison if convicted of second-degree grand larceny and scheming to defraud in the second degree.
