Feathers flew on Long Island Monday, when cops with a pool skimmer rescued an injured egret that was stranded on a front lawn.

The egret — white with a long, pointy yellow beak — was spotted around 6:40 p.m. in the yard of a West Babylon home on West Ninth Street — roughly 3 miles away from the Great South Bay.

When cops arrived, they wrangled the bird with the pool skimmer and placed it into a blue recycling bin.

The egret was taken to nearby animal hospital, police said, and will be return to the wild once fully recovered.
